The client needed an ergonomic manipulator arm to help control the bolt fastening process during assembly.
GCI designed a manipulator arm with encoders at each joint to support our AdaptiCS® smart arm position tracking. The smart-arm technology helps control the bolt fastening sequence to reduce the chances of operator error. Two brake switches are included on the end effector to further control position. The standard parking brake stops the lateral motion of the manipulator arm while the discrete brake locks in tool rotation to react torque.
