Fuel-Tank Housing Manipulator

The client needed an ergonomic solution for their operator to pick and place a fuel-tank housing. The part would need to be rotated and extended to properly reach the assembly position.

GCI engineered a floor-mounted manipulator with a custom end effector that simultaneously rotates and extends the operator controls. This enables the operator to place the part with one control action. To accommodate multiple part widths, the gripper includes an adjustable pin.
