Manipulator Arm with an Engine Block Cylinder ID Gripper

The client needed to move various heavy engine blocks through their assembly process while keeping the operator safe.

The engine block sizes varied but the cylinder dimensions were consistent so GCI designed a custom end-effector with an ID gripper. This allowed the manipulator end effector to work with all engine block sizes. A powered tilt was included in the design to allow the operator to safely orient the part during assembly.
